LLM SEO
Also called: llm seo, seo for llms, large language model seo, chatgpt seo, ai seo
Search engine optimization aimed specifically at large language models (the engines behind ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity) so they recommend and cite your business when users ask.
LLM SEO is the practitioner's term for optimizing toward large language models rather than traditional search crawlers. It overlaps heavily with answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) — the difference is mostly framing. LLM SEO starts from a simple question: when a customer asks an AI assistant for a recommendation in your category, what would have to be true for the model to name you?
Three things move the needle. First, the model has to have seen you — that means being present and consistently described across the web (your site, directories, reviews, third-party mentions) so the patterns the model learned include your business. Second, the page it lands on has to be easy to lift: plain-language answers, clear headings, FAQ and structured-data schema, specifics over fluff. Third, freshness and consistency — contradictory or stale information makes a model less likely to trust and repeat your claims.
For most small businesses, LLM SEO is not a separate project from being found on Google — it is the same content discipline, structured so both a search crawler and a language model can use it. Do it once, correctly, and you show up in both places.
